These posts have been shared widely and often link to unrelated websites, raising questions about their authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We decided to do a fact-check on these.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fact Check&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Official University Channels:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A thorough review of the official University of Peradeniya website and its verified social media pages revealed no announcements or information regarding offering free online courses. However, the official website of Peradeniya University says the advertisements on FB and other social media about online courses are bogus. The university announcement about bogus advertisements can be read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pdn.ac.lk\/bogus_advertisements_onfacebook\/\">here<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Facebook page of the Public Relations Division of the University of Peradeniya also explicitly denied these social media claims.
