The polling of the 10th Parliamentary Election in Sri Lanka was held yesterday (14) and the official results of the polls have already received. The  results of all the districts have been received and the results of the postal votes for all the 22 districts have been released. During the release of election results many inaccurate information were shared through social media. Accordingly, we decided to do a fact check on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A post  was shared on social media stating that, \u201cfor the first time in history one party has won the postal votes  in all the districts\u201d. The post is as follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official voting results of the 2024 parliamentary election began with the receipt of the official postal voting results of Galle district and by now all the postal voting results have been received. Also, the election results have been released in all the districts and majority of the votes have been acquired by the National People\u2019s Power. This is how the election commission showcased the election results<\/a> of the country <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Sri Lanka\u2019s 2024 parliamentary election, considering the official voting results it is found that the statement that one party has won the postal voting in all districts are false. Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi Party has won a total of 5236 postal votes in Batticaloa district. It is 38.41% as a percentage. The National People\u2019s Power has acquired the second position with 3412 postal votes and a percentage of 25.03%. Thamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal party has won the next highest number of votes with a 1383 of votes and a 10.15% of percentage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accordingly, according to the official postal voting results released by the Election Commission, Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi Party has won the Batticaloa district with the highest number of postal voting results, while the National People\u2019s Power has won the postal voting in other districts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accordingly, it is clear that the posts that are being shared stating that National People\u2019s Power has won all the districts from postal voting results are false. Apart from Batticaloa districts, the National People\u2019s Power has won the postal voting of other districts, while Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi has won the Batticaloa district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t
