Our investigation confirmed that no such news had been reported in mainstream media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A reverse image search of the viral photo led us to a 2019 news article by <a href=\"https:\/\/biz.adaderana.lk\/%E0%B6%BD%E0%B6%82%E0%B6%9C%E0%B6%B8%E0%B6%A7-%E0%B6%9C%E0%B7%99%E0%B6%B1%E0%B7%8F-%E0%B7%83%E0%B7%94%E0%B6%B4%E0%B7%92%E0%B6%BB%E0%B7%92-%E0%B6%B6%E0%B7%83%E0%B7%8A-%E0%B6%9A%E0%B7%9C%E0%B7%85\/\">Ada Derana<\/a>, featuring the same images and reporting that a collection of luxury buses imported for the SLTB had been released from the Colombo Port.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We found some more news articles featuring the same photo from 2019. <a href=\"https:\/\/sundaytimes.lk\/online\/news-online\/sltb-distributes-nine-luxury-buses-worth-rs-17-1-million\/2-1093008\">Sunday Times<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsfirst.lk\/2019\/06\/27\/sri-lanka-transport-board-receives-9-luxury-buses\">Newsfirst<\/a> |<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymirror.lk\/caption-story\/Enjoying-a-bus-ride\/110-170107\">Daily Mirror<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/IpceCIzY0Oo?si=psIhl5QToeeKfFRp\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For further clarification and to delve into the current context, we contacted the Coordinating Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation. He confirmed that these buses were purchased in 2019, and no new luxury buses have been imported to Sri Lanka since then.
