However, a certain crisis situation arose with the arrival of a large group of devotees in Kandy city for the \u2018Dalada Dakma\u2019, and various opinions regarding it were shared among people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, a social media post was circulated containing a statement issued by the Diyawadana Nilame, Pradeep Nilanga Dela Banda, and we conducted a fact-finding investigation regarding it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social Media:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A social media post was shared with the statement, <em>\u201cWhen the President suddenly asked for a display of the Tooth Relic, I told him that the given time is not a suitable auspicious time for it. The Tooth Relic should be brought out in an auspicious time. Otherwise, the entire country will be ruined\u201d, <\/em>claiming that it was a statement issued by the Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>(\u201c\u0da2\u0db1\u0dcf\u0db0\u0dd2\u0db4\u0dad\u0dd2\u0dad\u0dd4\u0db8\u0dcf \u0daf\u0dc5\u0db3\u0dcf \u0db4\u0dca\u200d\u0dbb\u0daf\u0dbb\u0dca\u0dc1\u0db1\u0dba\u0d9a\u0dca \u0d9a\u0dbb\u0db1\u0dca\u0db1 \u0d9a\u0dd2\u0dba\u0dbd\u0dcf \u0dc4\u0daf\u0dd2\u0dc3\u0dd2\u0dba\u0dda\u0db8 \u0d89\u0dbd\u0dca\u0dbd\u0dd4\u0dc0\u0dcf\u0db8 \u0db8\u0db8 \u0d91\u0dad\u0dd4\u0db8\u0dcf\u0da7 \u0db4\u0dd0\u0dc0\u0dc3\u0dd4\u0dc0\u0dcf \u0db8\u0dda \u0d92\u0d9a\u0da7 \u0dc3\u0dd4\u0daf\u0dd4\u0dc3\u0dd4 \u0db1\u0dd0\u0d9a\u0dad\u0dca \u0db1\u0dd0\u0dad\u0dd2 \u0d9a\u0dcf\u0dbd\u0dba\u0d9a\u0dca \u0d9a\u0dd2\u0dba\u0dbd\u0dcf. \u0daf\u0dc5\u0db3\u0dcf \u0dc0\u0dc4\u0db1\u0dca\u0dc3\u0dda \u0db8\u0d9f\u0dd4\u0dbd\u0dca \u0db1\u0dd0\u0d9a\u0dad\u0d9a\u0dd2\u0db1\u0dca \u0d91\u0dc5\u0dd2\u0dba\u0da7 \u0dc0\u0da9\u0db8\u0dca\u0db8\u0db1\u0dca\u0db1 \u0d95\u0db1. \u0db1\u0dd0\u0dad\u0dca\u0db1\u0db8\u0dca \u0dbb\u0da7\u0da7\u0db8 \u0dc0\u0dc3\u0dca \u0dc0\u0daf\u0dd2\u0db1\u0dc0\u0dcf.\u201d)<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXdws81jP6eKI65yY1LmhTTueACjH-915dZPKTEUpE6mZLVWd4GGH2ik7cy1qGu-3bDvWus_qnKF0N5ow5pGKGTa6tL6lbcCqCFAJO0PcYYOtQez1TS2jiTmmpKLIlZ_8aKcDFEBDBF62_YZt6CsNLI?key=ID1FmAQ9U0y5kW25O7Nhvw\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1AAwbaDz95\/\">Fb<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/2ayrg4hk\">Archive<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accordingly, we conducted an investigation to check whether this a statement made by the Diyawadana Nilame and to check whether it is an inappropriate time for the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fact Check&nbsp; :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara Diyawadana Nilame, made a statement like that it would be reported through mainstream media, and also would create a heated debate in the society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, any of the main stream media haven\u2019t reported on such a statement by him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although it was stated that he made this statement on May 13<sup>th<\/sup>, we did not find any report or a credible source reporting on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Media division of the Temple of Tooth Relic<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We inquired about this from the media division of the Temple of Tooth Relic, and they stated that this is a completely fake social media post and that various individuals are spreading false information for their own purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They have also made an announcement regarding this on their official Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They further stated that a specific auspicious time is not used during the offering to the Buddha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A specific auspicious time is used only in certain occasions like temple festivals and processions, but they are never used during the offering to Buddha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the Dalada Perahera, only the stepping on the \u2018Sandagala\u2019 is done at an auspicious time, and an auspicious time is used in other rituals such as in \u2018Planting of Kapa\u2019, because they are conducted through the \u2018devalaya\u2019.&nbsp; However, performing rituals and offering to the tooth relic, does not take place according to an auspicious time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Choosing a date for the exhibition of the Tooth Relic, is not a sole decision of the Diyawadana Nilame. The media division stated that it is chosen after discussing with Malwathu and Asgiri Thero, and the relevant appropriate date is chosen. They stated that it is not a matter of determining a date based on an auspicious time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cultural activities (\u2018thevava\u2019) at the Temple of Tooth Relic take place at 5.00 am, 9.00 am, and 5.30 pm.
