Among these, a post was shared stating that the relief aid sent by Pakistan to Sri Lanka had expired. Here is a fact-check we conducted in this regard.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Social Media Posts :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indian media had reported that the goods sent by Pakistan to Sri Lanka as disaster relief had expired. The expiry date mentioned in the photo of the rice bags was December 2024, leading to reports that expired rice had been provided to the country. Upon examining the relevant photos, we noticed that the bags of those relief packages included the local products. However, to further clarify this matter, we contacted the Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we inquired about this from the Pakistani High Commission in Sri Lanka, they stated that the yellow bags shown in the photos did not contain rice but dry food items, and that the bag was only used to put all the dry food items inside it. Accordingly, they have removed the covers of the dry rations that arrived from Pakistan, and have used those bags in the picture to store and distribute them. They confirmed that the food items inside them are not expired, and that the bags were used only for distributing dry food purchased from the local market. He confirmed that a mechanism has been developed to obtain foreign aid through the intervention of state institutions, and that there has been no report of receiving such expired aid at any time. He stated that Sri Lanka is currently receiving enormous assistance from Pakistan and India and that there is a possibility of various incorrect information being exchanged due to geopolitical circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A video showing the relief bags provided by Pakistan to Sri Lanka being distributed by air was posted on the official Facebook page of the Sri Lankan Air Force. Here too, the yellow bags in question are seen being flown by a Pakistan Navy Harbin Z-9 helicopter, continuing to assist in Sri Lanka&#8217;s flood relief efforts, rescuing four people from Kolonnawa, Wellampitiya, and Gampaha areas, and providing dry rations to displaced families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=476&#038;href=https%3A%2F%2Fweb.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1532197481336261%2F&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=267&#038;t=0\" width=\"267\" height=\"591\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"about:blank\">Facebook<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Social activist Chirantha Amarasinghe has posted a video explaining this. You can refer to the video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/v\/1J98SRx6j3\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Support from neighboring Pakistan and India<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country continues to receive significant assistance from neighboring Pakistan and India in its efforts to rebuild from the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwa. Pakistan has provided essential relief supplies to flood-affected families through the Sri Lanka Navy by the Pakistan Navy&#8217;s naval ship PNS SAIF. India has allowed Pakistani aid planes carrying relief material to Sri Lanka to use and pass through its airspace, upon the request to provide humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka. The Indian Prime Minister has pledged continued support for relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts under Operation Sagar Bandhu, and all necessary assistance in the reconstruction of Sri Lanka. First, India sent humanitarian aid to the country through the naval vessels INS Vikrant and INS Udayagiri, and continued to provide assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: As the yellow bags of ration distributed by Pakistan are said to have been airlifted to Kolonnawa, Wellampitiya, and Gampaha, we are continuously trying to contact the people living in those areas who received these rations, and we hope to update this article with their confirmation. However, we are unable to independently verify whether these bags contained rice or not.
