There were also several comments in Sinhala, blaming the three forces, including the Air Force, for their support to Mahinda Rajapaksa to flee from the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"497\" src=\"https:\/\/srilanka.factcrescendo.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-18.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/srilanka.factcrescendo.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-18.png 433w, https:\/\/srilanka.factcrescendo.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-18-261x300.png 261w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fact Check<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We noticed that above Facebook posts were crated based on a post by &#8220;OneIndia Tamil&#8221; official Facebook page, which had later been deleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"538\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/srilanka.factcrescendo.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-17.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3434\" srcset=\"https:\/\/srilanka.factcrescendo.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-17.png 538w, https:\/\/srilanka.factcrescendo.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/image-17-202x300.png 202w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 538px) 100vw, 538px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/oneindiatamil\/posts\/383650623796898\">Facebook<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/y4ehrkko\">Archived<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We did a reverse image search of the viral image and it was revealed that this photo was not taken on the 10th of this month but on the 09th of January 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a photograph of Mahinda Rajapaksa boarding a Sri Lanka Air Force MI17 helicopter to fly to Tangalle after his defeat in the 2015 Presidential Election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to media reports, his sons Namal, Yoshitha and Rohitha were with him at the time. We will not leave the country,&#8221; he said, describing the surge of national anger against his family as a &#8220;bad patch&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that Mahinda would not step down as a lawmaker and wanted to play an active role in choosing his successor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mahinda Rajapaksa was taken to an undisclosed location after protesters breached the compound fence at Temple Trees, his official residence in the capital Colombo, on Monday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My father is safe, he is at a safe location and he is communicating with the family,&#8221; said Namal, who served as the country&#8217;s sports minister until a cabinet shake-up last month.
