Many nature lovers make it a point to capture breathtaking views during their travels; these images go viral on social media. However, at times the public gets misled by some of the narrations associated with such amazing sceneries. This is one of our investigations on a mountain range covered with snow, purported to be scenes of Mount Everest. Let\u2019s look at the claim first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facebook posts claimed that the photo below depicts the highest peak in the Himalayas Mountain range, Mount Everest, the tallest mountain peak on Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMount Everest in the winter. It has snow on top year-round, but it’s far more inhospitable and intimidating when it’s all thickly blanketed of snow. All because avalanches occur if disturbed and bury anything down it’s path.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But is this a view of the tallest point on Earth? Let\u2019s find out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fact Check<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, we carried out a Google Reverse Image search and found that the viral image depicts a glacier area located at Haines, Alaska, and not Mount Everest or the Himalayas. The place is named \u201cThe Brothel\u201d. The image and related explanation can be read here<\/a>. Archived<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
