For example, recently, a short clip went viral among social media users in Sri Lanka, claiming to be the world&#8217;s tallest girl.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, our Factcrescendo investigation found the video to be false. Let&#8217;s look at the viral footage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social Media Posts<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A video of a bikini-clad girl walking on a beach says that the 18-year-old girl is the world&#8217;s tallest woman at an astonishing height of 8ft 7 inches, as seen below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe frameBorder='0' width='640' height='360' webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen src=\"https:\/\/www.awesomescreenshot.com\/embed?id=16822829&#038;shareKey=1040603030ed915303422e6f4415ec43\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.facebook.com\/100086004896811\/videos\/577669967763016\/\">Facebook<\/a>| <a href=\"https:\/\/www.awesomescreenshot.com\/video\/16822829?key=1040603030ed915303422e6f4415ec43\">Archived<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The video was shared among many WhatsApp users as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"334\" height=\"440\" src=\"https:\/\/srilanka.factcrescendo.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-49.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6660\" srcset=\"https:\/\/srilanka.factcrescendo.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-49.png 334w, https:\/\/srilanka.factcrescendo.com\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/image-49-228x300.png 228w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 334px) 100vw, 334px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fact Check<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>First, we did a reverse image search to find the original footage of this viral video. We found the clip, first published on the social media handles of a fashion model called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/jayzcalles\/\">Jayz Calles<\/a>, as seen below.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-tiktok wp-block-embed-tiktok\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"tiktok-embed\" cite=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@jayzcalles1\/video\/7201717071518977285\" data-video-id=\"7201717071518977285\" data-embed-from=\"oembed\" style=\"max-width:605px; min-width:325px;\"> <section> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"@jayzcalles1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@jayzcalles1?refer=embed\">@jayzcalles1<\/a> <p>\ud83c\udf2c\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f ig: @jayzcalles <a title=\"parati\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/parati?refer=embed\">#parati<\/a> <a title=\"viral\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/viral?refer=embed\">#viral<\/a> <a title=\"fyp\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/fyp?refer=embed\">#fyp<\/a> <a title=\"foryou\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/foryou?refer=embed\">#foryou<\/a> <a title=\"playa\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/playa?refer=embed\">#playa<\/a> <a title=\"uffmiamor\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/tag\/uffmiamor?refer=embed\">#uffmiamor<\/a> <\/p> <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"\u266c Uff Mi Amor - Lauty Gram\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/Uff-Mi-Amor-7179385964928698369?refer=embed\">\u266c Uff Mi Amor &#8211; Lauty Gram<\/a> <\/section> <\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/embed.js\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This TikTok clip, published on 19<sup>th<\/sup> February 2023, has over 36 million views. However, there is no mention that this model is the tallest girl, and her appearance also suggests that even though she has a good height, it could not be as much as 8 feet as claimed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is also not the tallest fashion model. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guinnessworldrecords.com\/world-records\/tallest-professional-model\">Guinness World Record<\/a> for the tallest professional model is held by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ekaterina_lisina15\/\"> Ekaterina Lisna from Russia,<\/a> with a height of 6 ft 8.77 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So Who holds the Guinness World Record for the Tallest Woman?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rumeysa_Gelgi\">Rumeysa Gelgi<\/a>, a 26-year-old Turkish national, holds the Guinness world record for the tallest living woman. Rumeysa&#8217;s most recent measurement in May 2021 was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CkxasfTumz7\/\">towering 215.16 cm (7ft 0.7in),<\/a> yet, way less than the claimed amount on social media of 8 feet 7 inches.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, her extraordinary height results from a rare genetic disorder called <a href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/health\/diseases\/24070-weaver-syndrome#:~:text=Weaver%20syndrome%20is%20a%20rare,condition%20can%20live%20healthy%20lives.\">Weaver Syndrome<\/a>. As a result, Rumeysa&#8217;a life is quite complicated, which has also impacted her physical appearance. She also has difficulties walking and is restricted to a wheelchair most times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite these hardships in life, Rumeysa continues to inspire millions around the world. She is a front-end web developer and researcher and is also known for her involvement as an activist and public speaker.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before becoming the world&#8217;s tallest woman at 18, Gelgi was also the world&#8217;s tallest teenager.
