Angelina Jolie is a well-known American actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian. Since rising to fame in the 1990s after leading roles in superhit movies like "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”, Jolie has become one of the most well-known and respected actresses in Hollywood, known for her talent, beauty, and philanthropic work.
Recently, several social media posts with links to dubious websites said Angelina Jolie had passed away. However, Fact Crescendo Sri Lanka’s fact-finding found that the above claim to be false.
Social Media Claim
A news website reported recently that actress Angelina Jolie passed away while people were weeping at the coffin, too. That news was shared on social media and spread several times by Facebook users, along with mixed expressions and reactions.
The following is a screenshot image captured from a Facebook page posted last Friday in English: “Hollywood reports unfortunate news about Angelina Julie, she is confirmed as…See more”.
The same claim was also found and published by some news sites in the previous year.

Fact Crescendo Sri Lanka started reviewing the photos and claims above through Google Reverse Image search, which led us to find the following facts.
The photo, which has the same shape and form, was found and published on the China Daily news website on September 7, 2004, without showing the picture of the actress Angelina Jolie. The same article above is confirmed in English as “photos of friends who cried on the coffin of 15-year-old hostage Alana Katsanova, who was killed. The scene was filmed and taken during the funeral held in Beslan on September 6, 2004”.

Further investigation into her health revealed that she has been dealing with Bell’s palsy, which she attributes to the stress leading up to her divorce from Brad Pitt. Bell’s palsy is a condition causing sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face, often temporary and can improve over time. According to the Mayo Clinic, it's characterised by inflammation of the nerve-controlling facial muscles, possibly stemming from a prior viral infection. While the direct link between stress and Bell’s palsy remains unclear, experts suggest that stress can compromise the immune system, potentially leading to nerve damage.
