Fact Check: Did this Egyptian man take out all his teeth to gift a necklace for his girlfriend?

A photo was shared on social media platforms claiming that an Egyptian man took out all of his teeth to make a present to his girlfriend in a unique way of expressing his love for her. However, our Fact Crescendo team investigation revealed that this was yet another hoax.

A viral Facebook post claimed “In Egypt, a young man takes out all his teeth and presents them to his girlfriend to express love for her” alongside a picture of a person seemingly without and teeth and a necklace made out of teeth, as seen below.

We detected that many Facebook accounts and pages shared this with same caption.

Due to the viral nature of this post, we decided to do an investigation about this bizarre claim.

Fact Check

Our initial research found a few news articles regarding this incident of a young man removing all of his teeth and presenting them in the form of a garland to his girlfriend in order to express his love for her.

However, according to this news article the person in the picture is Mostafa Soliman EL Sayed, a young Egyptian actor and this was not a real incident but a funny trick which went viral on social media.

On October 31, the said actor, Soliman EL Sayed , posted a photo of himself, and a necklace made of teeth on his official Facebook account alongside the caption “Seriously, one of the most beautiful meanings of love I have ever seen is that you take off all your teeth and give them to the human you love”

This actor edited his face to depict as a toothless person and used a photo of a necklace made from artificial teeth like parts which is available for sale on the internet.

Fact crescendo Sri Lanka team was able to contact Soliman EL Sayed through his official Facebook account as well and when we inquired about the incident he clarified that this was not a real incident and was posted just for the sake of entertainment.

Conclusion:

From our investigation, we can confirm that the claim “Egyptian man took out all his teeth to make a present to his girlfriend” is false news. The person in the picture is in fact an Egyptian actor, Soliman EL Sayed, who edited an image of his face to depict as a toothless person and posted a picture of a necklace made from artificial tooth like material in a satirical manner.
