Is this a video of an attack on the US Embassy in Israel? Know the truth.

A video of the demolition of a building is currently going viral on social media. It can be seen that a tall building started crumbling down with a massive noise after an explosion.

Users claim this is a video of the US Embassy located in Tel Aviv. With the current war situation between Israel and Palestine, many people believe that this was the result of an attack on Israel.

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an old video of demolishing a building in the US.

Fact Check-

First, we searched for images of the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel. We found the image of the embassy from the Getty Images website, which is entirely different from the demolished building in the viral video.

A relevant keyword search on Google led us to a notice released by the US government on 4 November 2023, asking US citizens to contact the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv embassy for assistance to depart Israel. This also confirms that the US embassy in Tel Aviv is still functional.

Where is this video from?

A Google Reverse Image Search on a keyframe led us to a video uploaded on ABC 8News, which was recorded live. The same building which was demolished can be seen in the video. The post's caption reads that this is a video of the demolition of the old Dominion Energy headquarters.

According to a report, the old headquarters of Dominion Energy was demolished by the Controlled Demolition company on 30 May 2020 in Virginia. This building has been in operation since 1978. More than 3000 pounds of explosives were used to implode the building. Controlled Demolition company also released a video of the demolition. You can see the video below.

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is not a video showing the destruction of the US Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel. This is an old video of the demolition of the Dominion Energy building in Virginia, US.
