The Fact Crescendo team verified the claim by conducting a Google Reverse Image Search and reviewing the official 2024 Paris Olympics table tennis results. Our investigation revealed the following facts.
The Google Reverse Image Search confirmed that the photographs circulating on social media do indeed depict the U.S. women’s table tennis team during their participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The U.S. women’s table tennis roster features veteran Lily Zhang (28) alongside rising players Rachel Sung (20) and Amy Wang (21).
Official records show that Lily Zhang was born in Redwood, California, to a Chinese-American family. Her father is a mathematics professor at Stanford University, and her mother is a former table tennis player for China’s Xi’an province.
Rachel Sung, a native of San Jose, California, is of Taiwanese-Chinese descent, while Sewell, New Jersey native Amy Wang is also of Chinese descent.

The United States did not win a medal in women’s table tennis
As of August 9, 2024, the United States led the overall medal standings at the Paris Games with 103 total medals (30 gold, 38 silver, and 35 bronze).

Despite the high overall medal count, the U.S. women’s table tennis team did not secure any medals at the 2024 Olympics.
Official Olympic data confirms that the United States ended its table tennis campaign without a podium finish.
The U.S. team was eliminated in the first round on August 6, 2024, following a defeat by the German national team.
Critically, the U.S. women’s team never faced China during the tournament.
