Fact Check

Fact Crescendo monitors and verifies these photos through the Google Reverse Image Search process, which leads us to find the truth as follows:

As of this article published, there are no credible reports or news sources confirming that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was attacked or beaten up by Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Israeli Knesset (parliament).

An exact video has been found on the Associated Press (AP) YouTube channel, posted in January 2013, that clarifies the video claim circulating on social media. The video shows Bulgarian police detaining a man who pointed a gas pistol at a Turkish minority party leader during a speech at a party caucus in Sofia.

No shots were fired, and the situation was quickly controlled by police. The video has not been linked to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in recent viral claims at all.

Please see the full video below for clarification.

In addition to the video clarified by the AP, we have also found a report on CNN that provides further context to the incident. The video footage from CNN shows a gunman attempting to shoot the leader of Bulgaria’s ethnic Turkish party, Ahmed Dogan, during a national conference in 2013.

The gunman, who had mounted the stage where Dogan was delivering his speech, pointed a gas pistol at him. However, no shots were fired, and the situation was quickly brought under control by security personnel. This report further confirms the events surrounding the 2013 incident and helps clarify the details surrounding the original claim that has been circulating on social media.
