Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan is expected to visit Sri Lanka next month, bringing excitement to his many fans across the country. This will mark his second visit to the island. Unfortunately, his previous visit was overshadowed by a tragic incident a bomb attack at a concert he attended, which followed the death of a religious leader.
With news of his return, a ticket claiming to offer fans a chance to see Shah Rukh Khan has been making rounds on social media. However, after verifying the information, we can confirm that the ticket is fake. Fans are advised to stay cautious and follow official sources for any updates.
Social Media Posts :
A photo circulating on social media shows what appears to be a ticket, claiming it was issued for Rs. 20,000 to see Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan at the inauguration ceremony of the City of Dreams Sri Lanka hotel project. The post suggests that such tickets were officially distributed for the event.
Here are a few other instances where the same photo has been circulated on social media
We took steps to investigate whether such a ticket had actually been issued.
Fact – Check:
According to an announcement on the official Facebook page of City of Dreams Sri Lanka, the country’s first integrated resort and South Asia’s first of its kind will officially launch on August 2, 2025. Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to be a special guest at the inauguration ceremony.
It is also clearly stated that the event is open only to invited guests.
However, a closer look at the ticket photo circulating on social media reveals several inconsistencies. The spelling of Shah Rukh Khan’s name in English is incorrect, and the image used is not a clear or authentic photo of the actor. Instead, it appears to be an AI-generated image, further indicating that the ticket is not genuine.
If a ticket were to be officially issued for such a prestigious event, it would not contain errors or be of such poor quality. To clarify the matter, we reached out to a manager at City of Dreams Sri Lanka. He confirmed that no tickets are being sold for the inauguration ceremony, which will feature Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The event is strictly by invitation only, with attendance limited to a select group of guests.
He further confirmed that the ticket circulating on social media is fake. In addition, the official Facebook page of City of Dreams Sri Lanka also issued a statement, clarifying that the shared ticket is not authentic and that entry to the event is limited to invited guests only.
It appears that the fake ticket was made using a photo of Shah Rukh Khan from the IPL 2025 inauguration ceremony held at Eden Gardens.
There has also been a social media post explaining how this fake ticket was created and circulated.
Is Cinnamon Life reopening?
We asked the manager about the August 2nd date, since Cinnamon Life Colombo had already opened last year. He clarified that it’s not a reopening but a phased launch. The hotel and some dining and event spaces opened last year, while the remaining sections including the shopping mall, entertainment areas, and the ultra-luxury “Nua” hotel are set to open next month. So, rather than a reopening, it’s the full opening of the entire City of Dreams Sri Lanka complex.
