Fact-Check :

Video Analysis:

Upon closely observing the viral video, we noticed several elements which did not seem natural, suggesting digital manipulation. These include inconsistencies in facial movements, unnatural lip-syncing, and sudden distortions, which are common indicators of AI-edited content. Such manipulations are often seen in deepfake videos created using AI-powered editing tools.

To verify the authenticity of the video, the footage was analysed using Deepware.ai, a deepfake detection tool. The results were as follows:

Deepware Model: Deepfake detected (80%)

Seferbekov Model: Deepfake detected (94%)

Ensemble Model: Deepfake detected (93%)

These results indicate a high probability that the video is artificially generated and not an authentic recording of Dhammika Perera.

Audio Analysis :

The speech in the video begins with:

“Dear citizens of Sri Lanka and the entire world. I usually speak in Sinhala, but today I am addressing you in English so that the whole world can hear me.”

It then promotes a financial platform that claims to enable users to earn passive income through automated trading in collaboration with Sri Lankan and European banks. This messaging aligns with common tactics used in online investment scams that promise high returns with little effort or financial knowledge.

Further analysis has confirmed that the voice in the video is AI-generated. The speech patterns and accent do not match Dhammika Perera’s natural voice, and AI voice cloning technology was used to fabricate the message. Result

Misleading Investment Claims

The video caption includes a financial promise:

“𝟕𝟓,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐋𝐊𝐑 → 𝟏𝟓𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐋𝐊𝐑 𝐢𝐧 𝟏 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤! 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐰!”

Such claims are red flags for financial scams, as legitimate investment platforms and banks do not guarantee 100% profit within a week. Financial authorities in Sri Lanka and worldwide warn against Ponzi schemes and fraudulent trading platforms that lure investors with promises of unrealistic returns.

We have reached out to Dhammika Perera via email to seek clarification on whether he is involved in any similar investment platforms. Once we receive a response, we will update this fact-check accordingly.
