After the death of the former Prime Minister of India, Mr. Manmohan Singh, many people reminisced about his service to India and shared many posts regarding him. Meanwhile, a photo purporting to be his last photos was circulated among foreigners as well as social media users in Sri Lanka. To find the credibility of it, we decided to a fact check.

A photo was circulated on social media, indicating that it was the last photo of the former Prime Minister of India, Mr. Manmohan Singh.
Here is how we investigated on this claim.
Fact Check:
Mr. Manmohan Singh, considered to be the founder of India’s economic renaissance, passed away on 26th, while receiving treatment at a New Delhi hospital, due to a sudden illness.
As the above social media post claim, no photos were releases by the mainstream media in India, claiming to be the last photos of Mr. Manmohan Singh.
Therefore, we checked this photos with a reverse image search.
Accordingly, it was found that the photograph was taken in 2021 when he was admitted to the AIIMS hospital due to a fever. Zeenews, a major news media in India published this news in 2021, as follows.
The Hindu website published a photo of Former Vice President Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former Minister of Human Resource Development after they casted their voted for the postal votes held in New Delhi on May 17, 2024.
Also, the above photos published in the social media post is when the Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited the AIIMS hospital to check on the health of Mr. Manmohan Singh, and some photos taken at the time were published in the ‘The Tribune’ Youtube channel. These photos were also shown as photos taken at the time when Mr. Manmohan Singh was at hospital, thorugh some social media. You can watch the video below.
If you look carefully at the photos taken of Mr. Manmohan Singh this year and the photos published on social media posts, it can be seen that he looks much weaker than the photo taken in 2021.
Mr. Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 reflected his unwavering commitment to equality and inclusion through transformative policies such as Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme and Right to Information Act. He is considered as the founder of the country’s major liberal economic reforms.
Mr. Manmohan Singh, who was dedicated to international cooperation, supported the establishment of long term cooperative alliances and contributed to organizations like BRICS. Conclusion:
From the investigation of these facts, it is clear that the photo circulating on social media as the last photo of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was taken when he was hospitalized in 2021. Also, none of the mainstream media in India released an official photo of Mr. Manmohan Singh at his last moments.
