There are many social media users who post and share valuable things, and many other who create misleading content, sometimes even religious content, with the sole aim of gaining more attention for their Facebook account or page. Here is an investigation we did on such a video.
Social Media Posts :
According to the video, which was posted with the caption, “You can’t predict what will happen…Life is a fast-changing thing, so don’t delay and accumulate merit” (“සිදුවන දේ හිතාගන්න බෑ…ජීවිතය කියන්නේ ඉක්මනින් වෙනස් වන දෙයක් නොපමා කුසල් රැස් කරගන්න”), two people are fighting at a high place. There one person kicks the other person who is hanging in a certain place and tries to attack with somekind of a weapon. At the same time, the person trying to attack is falling down while burning. This seems to be an attempt to socialize the idea of how Karma works. This is further confirmed by the fact that it was posted with the song “Budu bana padayak sawana wakewa…budu guna pamanak sithata nagewa..” (“බුදු බණ පදයක් සවන වැකේවා… බුදු ගුණ පමණක් සිතට නැගේවා…”).
