We all have different physical characteristics, and people are often curious about some extraordinary features. For example, recently, a short clip went viral among social media users in Sri Lanka, claiming to be the world’s tallest girl.
However, our Factcrescendo investigation found the video to be false. Let’s look at the viral footage.

A video of a bikini-clad girl walking on a beach says that the 18-year-old girl is the world’s tallest woman at an astonishing height of 8ft 7 inches, as seen below.
The video was shared among many WhatsApp users as well.
Fact Check
First, we did a reverse image search to find the original footage of this viral video. We found the clip, first published on the social media handles of a fashion model called Jayz Calles, as seen below.
This TikTok clip, published on 19th February 2023, has over 36 million views. However, there is no mention that this model is the tallest girl, and her appearance also suggests that even though she has a good height, it could not be as much as 8 feet as claimed.
She is also not the tallest fashion model. The Guinness World Record for the tallest professional model is held by Ekaterina Lisna from Russia, with a height of 6 ft 8.77 inches.
So Who holds the Guinness World Record for the Tallest Woman?
Rumeysa Gelgi, a 26-year-old Turkish national, holds the Guinness world record for the tallest living woman. Rumeysa’s most recent measurement in May 2021 was a towering 215.16 cm (7ft 0.7in), yet, way less than the claimed amount on social media of 8 feet 7 inches.
Unfortunately, her extraordinary height results from a rare genetic disorder called Weaver Syndrome. As a result, Rumeysa’a life is quite complicated, which has also impacted her physical appearance. She also has difficulties walking and is restricted to a wheelchair most times.
Despite these hardships in life, Rumeysa continues to inspire millions around the world. She is a front-end web developer and researcher and is also known for her involvement as an activist and public speaker.
Before becoming the world’s tallest woman at 18, Gelgi was also the world’s tallest teenager. She also holds three other Guinness World Records as the Longest finger on a living person (female), Largest hands on a living person (female), and Longest back on a living person (female).

A Chinese woman called Zeng Jinlian holds the record for the tallest woman who ever lived: Zeng was born in 1964 in Yujiang village, Hunan Province, and passed away in 1982. She had measured an average of 246.3 cm (8 ft 1 in). More on the tallest personnel here

Our investigation revealed that the girl shown in the viral clip is a fashion model and is not the tallest girl on Earth. The tallest living woman is Rumeysa Gelgi, with a height of 7ft and 7 inches. However, a rare genetic disorder causes her extraordinary height, and as a result, she also has difficulties in walking.
