Media Secretary — Patali Champika Ranawaka

Patali Champika Ranawaka’s Media Secretary confirmed that he was personally travelling alongside Ranawaka at the time of the incident. He stated that on Vesak Poya Day (30 May), Ranawaka had religious ceremonies to attend at several temples in the Kurunegala area. While returning from those ceremonies, they came across a road accident that had already occurred on the Karandagolla road.

When they arrived at the scene, an injured young man was found. Ranawaka instructed his team to assist, stepped out of his vehicle, and went to the scene himself. He then instructed that the injured youth be taken to hospital in the vehicle in which they had arrived. The youth was transported to hospital with the driver of that vehicle. Ranawaka and the Media Secretary subsequently left the scene in a vehicle belonging to one of their organizers.
