Social Media Posts:
A post circulating on social media poses the question: “Who is this R. Silva who suddenly put a house worth Rs. 10 billion up for sale?” The post was accompanied by an image purportedly showing a property listing on ikman.lk.

We investigated the accuracy of this claim.
Fact Check:
Through a reverse image search, we found that the images used in the viral post, purporting to be an advertisement on ikman.lk, had previously circulated on social media. The property belongs to Raynor Silva, founder and owner of the ABC Media Network. One such post is seen below.
The viral image uses these photographs, posted as a property listing on ikman.lk, with the contact’s name listed as “R. Silva” and the price set at Rs. 10 billion.
This context is likely connected to a recent news story involving Hiru News under the ABC Media network. Following media reports by Hiru News saying that Minister Lal Kantha held assets worth Rs. 460 million, the Minister issued a legal notice through his lawyer to Hiru TV, demanding Rs. 10 billion in damages for false reporting. The Rs. 10 billion figures in the viral post appear to have been borrowed directly from this incident.
When we searched the ikman.lk website, no such listing was found. Closer inspection of the circulated image also revealed inconsistencies in the font used for the advertiser’s name, prompting us to compare it against a genuine ikman.lk advertisement.

The comparison reveals clear formatting differences between the genuine ikman.lk advertisement, confirming that the viral post is a digitally manipulated fake.
We also contacted the ikman.lk customer support team for further verification. They confirmed that the image is a manipulated version, pointing to clear inconsistencies in the listing title, price field, and the font used for the advertiser’s name.
We also asked whether any property valued at around Rs. 10 billion has recently been listed on the platform. They noted that while some high-value listings exist under land, commercial properties, and apartments, no listing matching the images in the viral post has been published.
Raynor Silva
We also reached out to Raynor Silva’s representatives. They confirmed that his house is not for sale and that no such advertisement has been published on ikman.lk or any other platform.
